New Year, New Me?!

At this very point in the year, we tend to always hear this phrase ‘New Year, New Me’ or ’20xx is gonna be my year’ ewwww it’s so cliché. As I discussed in this post, I’m not one to set New Years resolutions but there is something fulfilling about setting goals. I, (like many others) like to take time at the end of the year to reflect on whats been, checking back on what goals I had set myself the year before. Reflection can be powerful, but only if we learn from it and take forward changes to improve ourselves.

I had a good year in 2017, no I didn’t achieve all my goals but I did achieve some. I took a lot of time out throughout the year and yes, the blog was one thing that I wasn’t particularly consistent with. I lacked motivation to blog and I just didn’t feel the need to force it. I have many posts in my drafts but if I was to post content for the sake of posting, it just wouldn’t feel right. I am definitely in a better space with the blog and want to be much more consistent this year. I won’t make any promises as to blogging schedules, but I will make a conscious effort to put greater content out.

2017 was an epic fail. I ate much better than I ever did, I stopped eating meat for a while and gave up eating pork for good. I also signed up to the gym, went once and then cancelled my membership *let’s all laugh together* so in short, 2018 I need to be on point. The holidays I plan to go on this year have not invited this belly of mine LOL! All in all, I want to work on becoming much fitter for health reasons as well as looking leaner in my clothing. I’m hoping to drop a dress size and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Alongside this blog, I have other goals outside of Shannon Kara. My main goal for the New Year is to be happy, wholeheartedly. I have spent a lot of time reading self help books and working on my inner peace. Many things do not deserve a reaction and I am enjoying taking time to love myself for me. Putting positive energies out into the universe and being a better person is a lifelong goal of mine, for now I am just working on being great.

Travelling is also something which makes me happy and this year will be no different from the last. I plan to travel as frequently as I can to see other cultures and learn new things. I’ll have a post on the places on my travel list for this year up soon so keep an eye out for that. Last and most importantly, I want to strengthen my faith in God. I will work on putting God first in every situation trusting him with my life as he has never failed me thus far.
