Slay In Your Lane

Slay In Your Lane

Everywhere you look, people are SLAYING! In the street, on the gram and generally all over social media! It’s easy to think that you are not on the level of some of the beautiful people around you, and guess what, you’re not. You’re in your OWN LANE running your OWN race. There is no traffic when you’re in your own lane and nobody is you which is what makes you special.

Slay In Your Lane

This post had been saved in my drafts for ages because I almost felt how can I post something that I myself do not truly believe about myself? Yeah words are easy to say, but to believe them? Yeah that’s the hard part. I, like many others have off days, when my hair won’t style the way I want it to or my outfit doesn’t bang how I imagined it would in my head, or my skin is doing higgy jiggy looking a hot mess or better still – all three! But in all seriousness, sometimes we have down days and the devil that I call social media doesn’t always help.

Slay In Your Lane

I decided to put the doubts to the back of my mind and start to believe in my own slay! These are a few pointers that remind me to Slay In My Lane!

Do not run before you can crawl!

Do not feel like you have to keep up with the Jones’ as they say. Just because so and so has that particular ‘thing’ that you may be working towards – a) you do not know how or what they do to achieve things and b) it’s not your time YET!

Know your sauce!

Know what works for you. Whether that’s makeup, clothing, hair or your personality. Work with it and let that be your beacon of confidence. Sometimes you come across people who just have a nice aura, you can’t put your finger on the why, that’s because they know their sauce and it’s time for you to embrace yours!

Enhance your goodness

Find something you love about yourself and work on enhancing this. It could be one of your features such as your eyes. If you really like these, dress them with eyeshadows, mascara and liner. If it’s your lips, play around with different lip combos. If it’s your hair, work with styles that make you feel confident. These are just examples but you know that thing you love about yourself? Yeah that!
