It has been a very long time since I done a favourites post, in fact it was November 2015! Wow, that shows me two things. The first being that I have been blogging for nearly two years *shocked face* and the second, I clearly don’t have many monthly favourites! I think that’s cos I’m a ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ kinda girl. Well, of late, I have been trying to use up what I have instead of spending on more, in all aspects of my life. This includes a lot of skincare products that I have hoarded along the way. In this blogging game, it is so easy to get caught up buying so many products that you don’t get round to using them all. Come on guys, be honest…. How many products do you have stashed in drawers or in the bathroom cupboards…? *Don’t worry I’ll wait* But in all seriousness, I have rediscovered some gems in my stash that I am really loving lately!
The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is amazing hands down. It is so kind and gentle on the skin that it’s perfect for every day use. I have combination skin but Garnier recommend it is great for all skin types. I use it as a multi purpose cleanser, not only for removing make up but I like to use this generally to remove any dirt/grime build up from throughout the day on non make up days, sometimes as an alternative to face wipes. I feel it is less harsh as depending on the brand of face wipes, they can leave my skin feeling tender. I apply a generous amount of the micellar water onto a cotton pad working it around my face in circular motions, this leaves my skin feeling cleaner. This bottle is the perfect handbag size and perfect for travelling, but I do have this in the bigger sized bottle too. Although I am extremely happy with this product and will continue to repurchase, I never depend solely on one cleanser.
Next up, I have reintroduced my Magnitone cleansing brush into my daily skincare routine. You can see my first impressions here. I had a love hate relationship with this initially as it advised that there would be a few breakouts until your skin gets used to it and I remember I was going away on holiday, so I didn’t want to risk a breakout at the time. When I came back, I attempted to use it again but not as frequently as I didn’t want to disrupt my skin. Fast forward a few months, my skin was looking extremely dull and I was suffering with clogged pores. I decided I was going to use this with an exfoliator rather than a face wash to see if this would make a difference and I can say it definitely has. Think of what our skin goes through on a daily basis (especially if you commute LOL), it’s inevitable for our skin to attract dirt and grime so it is important to cleanse thoroughly. Recently I haven’t found cleansing with my hands as effective. This Magnitone has done me favours lately and is a step I will continue in my night routine.
Talking exfoliators, my current go to is the Pore Cleansing Exfoliator from The Body Shop Seaweed Range. I love this range from the Body Shop especially the mask! I really have taken a turn with this one as the scent really used to put me off, but it’s as if I can’t even smell the seaweed anymore! YAAAAYYYYYYY!!! I dampen my Magnitone cleansing brush and then add a small amount of the exfoliator directly onto the brush. I also wet my face and then work this in a circular motion at least twice all over my face. This may sound vigorous but I love knowing I am giving my skin a deep cleanse/exfoliation.
After I exfoliate with my Magnitone and Pore Cleanser, I go in again with the Biore pore charcoal cleanser. Now you can imagine after the exfoliation and this how my skin feels, and you are right, it feels damn fresh! I use my hands to apply this all over my face and leave on for a few minutes before rinsing off. Again, this is very mild to use daily although I only use these two in the night time using a gel cleanser in the morning.
Finally in the month of July, I have been loving this amazing root spray from Palmers. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you would see how much I have been loving this range. I currently have braids and let me tell you, this spray is absolutely perfect for this hairstyle. I was completely oblivious to the fact that Palmers did haircare but I am extremely happy I now have this new found information. It smells glorious and the bottle is very user friendly. Overall, I will need another one of these bottles ASAP, I think that tells you I like this one…LOL!
*This post contains samples from Magnitone and Palmer’s though all thoughts and opinions are my own.
What are your current skincare saviours? Do you use any of the above?
