I’m back with another Palmer’s post and I can’t wait to share with you all of this coconut goodness! I was lucky enough to receive a few items from the Palmer’s Olive Oil range and I was happy with the items I received then, but when I got my second lot of blogger mail from Palmer’s from the Coconut Oil Formula range, I was very impressed with the products! The guys were more than generous to say the least which gave me a great opportunity to try various products for both my body and hair. I gave a bit of an overview on my hair in my previous post, so you can have a nosy about that there, but as I am transitioning back to natural hair, I welcome great hair care products.
If you are familiar with Palmer’s it is likely to be due to their Cocoa Butter range. This is a household favourite however Palmer’s offer so much more. I was lucky enough to get my hands on these items from the Coconut Oil Formula range:
When it comes to moisturising my skin on a daily basis, I am more of a cream than an oil kinda gal. Having said that, this is exactly the kind of product that I would use when going abroad. For reasons that it is the perfect size for my suitcase, it’s very easy to use with the pump applicator and it is far more lightweight than a cream in hotter weather. This will definitely be coming away on my next holiday and the scent is perfect for the sunshine!
In comparison to the oil, this is exactly the type of product I use on a daily basis. The body cream is made up of natural ingredients including Coconut and Tahitian Monoï Oil and is very rich in moisture. Although this looks quite thick on first appearance, the cream is very lightweight when worked into the skin. If you know me, one thing I don’t do is dry skin so this beauty fits right into my daily routine used after a bath/shower, and leaves my skin feeling extremely soft.
Now onto hair care. I use this shampoo working it into a rich creamy lather removing any build up in my hair. This has a silky luxurious feel and doesn’t leave my hair feeling stiff or hard to work with. This is very important for me especially as my hair is transitioning, products that make the hair more manageable are essential and this does just that. Palmer’s recommend using this with the Coconut Oil Formula conditioner for the best results however, I have not used these two products together to give a view.
Instead, I used the deep conditioning protein pack which I would normally use as a protective treatment step in my wash day routine. Generally I use a conditioner beforehand and then leave this in my hair for around 20 minutes under a plastic bag or cling film for a mini steam. I then rinse my hair thoroughly before towel drying.
Once I pat my hair dry, I apply a moisturising lotion throughout my hair, ready to blow it dry. The smoothie is a perfect consistency, it leaves my hair moisturised but not greasy. I also apply a heat protecting serum to ensure that I reduce the heat damage to my hair as I tend to blow dry my hair on a higher heat. For me personally, this is when I feel I get better results and it makes the process a lot quicker too.
I didn’t get round to trying this product because as the name suggests, this is for styling curls which I do not have however, I can imagine how this may be used to style curly hair. Palmer’s suggests this will transform dry frizzy hair into defined curls.
This product has been my holy grail since I have braided my hair! I have practically finished the bottle because I love it so much! The roots spray is perfect for getting in between my plaits right to my scalp. Rather than apply hair grease to my scalp which I still do, this has made my hair care routine that much more practical because I literally just spray and go. It saves so much time and the bottle is the perfect travel size. I will definitely repurchase this and would highly recommend this if you have braids, crochet or any other protective styles.
Last but not least is the edge control. Now no matter what hairstyle you may have, it is important for them edges to be laid! When I first opened the lid I thought no way am I going to use gel but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t of a gel consistency. Again with my current hairstyle, this is an essential product for styling and I have been so loyal to my Argan oil edge control, I thought this wouldn’t be as good. I was wrong. This holds my edges in place for the majority of the day which is great because a little goes a long way and it is not too greasy/shiny.
Overall, I am really impressed with this range, and even more surprised at the scent. I don’t tend to like coconut but these products smell fricking amazing! I have used practically all of the items and will continue to repurchase once I run out. What’s great is that the Coconut Oil Formula ingredients are natural and have great benefits for the hair including adding moisture and shine to prevent the hair looking dull, strengthen and repairs to have healthier looking hair.
Have you tried anything from this range or the rest of the Palmer’s range? I am definitely going to explore the various ranges having come across so many great products which I usually wouldn’t have as I considered Palmer’s a skin care brand. It just goes to show that sometimes we need to step out of the box and not always stick to what we know!
