It’s 2017 and a year which I have not made any New Years resolutions for, but one thing I always do is set GOALS. Are you a GOALdigger? For me, 2016 was a year of learning. Learning a lot about myself and also learning about others. I learnt what I would tolerate from what I wouldn’t and as a result of that, my perspective changed. I try to see the best in every situation and if something no longer serves a purpose or brings positivity, it needs to go! 2017 for me is all about being in a happy space #thatisall
It also taught me that in order to progress, I need to keep pushing. Nothing happens overnight so consistency is key. I started my blog out of nowhere, didn’t know how it would go but I’m still here lol! With that being said, I’ve set some goals for areas in my life I wish to improve on and some will take longer than a year because they’re long term goals.
As some of you may know, I started this blog at the end of 2015 as a hobby. I enjoy blogging although it isn’t a job so to speak. So when life gets in the way, my blog goes on a bit of a back burner. I do try to keep up a presence surrounding my blog on Instagram and Twitter but there are times it can be challenging. If you find it hard also, I have a post on this which you can read here.
Currently my blog has 3 main categories which are Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle although I have created sub categories on my navigation bar to make it easier to filter through topics. I want to produce better content for my readers and post more of what you enjoy reading, but also what I like writing. Depending on how I am feeling, what I post may or may not cover each of these categories in a week. My goal is to try and cover each of these topics at least once a week which brings me onto my next goal.
At present I post quite sporadically. Again this is down to time, planning etc. Sometimes I just don’t want to post lol. I have 5 posts sitting in my drafts right now, I just need to pull my finger out and work to a proper schedule. I will aim to post 3 times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays covering each topic, but may vary for example, 2x lifestyle, 1x beauty who knows? But that is what I will aim for, 3x a week, each topic.
Isn’t this just the bug bearer of every blogger? OK maybe not all because some of your flat-lays and photography in general are just gorgeous but this for me is a big deal. I do have a ‘blogging camera’ but find it so much more convenient to take pictures if I have my phone to hand (iPhone 6). I can tell the difference when I use my camera and my phone and I will use my camera for blog photos going forward. I have also tried to incorporate more props into my photos for aesthetic purposes but still have a long way to go to get my photography to where I want it to be.
Another focus for me is to have greater engagement with other bloggers. This is across all my social media platforms and my blog. I will always reply to comments left on any of my posts and also want to leave more comments on other people’s. This includes Instagram photos and having more conversations on Twitter. I think it is important as a blogger to maintain a social presence online.
Finally for my #bloggoals I wish to work with more brands this year! In 2016 I had the pleasure of working with a few brands but that was only the beginning and I would love for this to develop in this coming year. I would only ever work with brands that I feel are respectable and promote products that I would use myself. I have been approached in the past by brands wanting to work with me that I have had to politely decline as their products were not fitted to myself or this blog. Therefore any item that you do see has been sent for a review has only been done on the basis that I would genuinely use the product.
I am a strong believer in growth and development and know that we as individuals are a constant work in progress. I am far from perfect but knowing the areas I want to change and working towards them is a start. With that being said, I think it is important to Invest in ourselves to become better than we were yesterday. Let’s try not to focus so much on others but instead Be Our Own Competition.
Health / Fitness
I have never really been conscious of my body but recently I have been looking back at myself in pictures and I have seen how much weight I have gained. I love my body regardless but I know I will love it even more when I work on it. This change isn’t for the here and now but it is for life. I want to eat better and feel better within myself. This is going to take some time and dedication as it is not something that will happen overnight.
To start, I have purchased 3 books from the BodyCoach mr #leanin15 Joe Wickes himself and I will start by meal prepping. Having planned and prepared what I am going to eat will ensure that I am not tempted to buy the quickest thing on my lunch break which can sometimes mean KFC which is my weakness! I drink roughly around 1.5ltrs of water a day but I want to increase this to at least 2ltrs a day. I know it’s not a huge jump but small changes lol!
Although a lot of being healthy starts in the kitchen by having a balanced diet, exercise is vital to getting fitter and having the body I want. I’m not currently signed up to a gym and for the now, I am going to try exercising at home, in the garden or at a park. Simply because I think you can do most workouts without equipment, it saves money and also time. In the books I have purchased, Joe has various HITT workouts to try plus there are lots of videos on YouTube nowadays.
Another goal of mine is to perfect my skincare routine. I have tried numerous products in the last year and although some of them are really good, I still need to perfect a routine to give me that glowy skin! Any recommendations are welcome although I am hoping through my newly adopted lifestyle changes, my skin will reap the benefits!
Every year I aim to save and this year is no different.Finances are important, not only by having money in the bank but actually knowing how to manage it. Spending is easy for everyone and if you have earned it by all means spend it how you feel to, but good money management will thank you in the long run. I have been quite disciplined in the last year and will continue in 2017!
On the flipside, I also like to travel! However, if you have good money management, you can sill do both spend and save! I travelled to Paris last weekend and have booked another holiday for next month. My plan this year is to go to as many places as I can to fill my travel journal. There is just something about being away from home, seeing how other people live and taking it all in. #Wanderlust2017
My final personal goal is to have better time management – I need this for various reasons! Some of the reasons are to have a better work life balance for example with my blog, having a day to plan and schedule posts, tweets etc inline with my new schedule which will free up time for me to workout, meal prep to work towards my fitness goals. I spend a lot of time commuting therefore after work hours at home are limited so I need to make the best use of it. I also want to allow much more time to visit friends and family which is important as the kids are growing so fast and the elders are getting older, you get the gist – time is precious!
That’s it for my major goals. Have you got any posts or thoughts on your own goals? If so leave a link in the comments and I will have a nosy.
Thank you for reading and hope to see you on my next post!
Keep up to date with me on Social Media and come say hi! 🙂
