Now I have been wanting flawless skin forever! But who hasn’t? I have tried many skincare products from ‘drugstore’ a lot of which you can see here.
I think perfecting my skincare routine will take a good length of time, a few wasted pounds and some irritated skin but I’m learning a lot along the way. I have combination skin which can be a pain as when the oil is visible I look hella shiny but can also look and feel very dry in areas. I recently bought a few items that are all new to me on my last ‘lunch time dash’ to the shops. My skincare routine is quite basic as I tend not to use too many different brands with one another and try to use products collectively from a specific range, but maybe that’s where I’ve been going wrong in the past.
On my latest trip to Boots and Superdrug, I specifically went in for some Biore products which I had seen used in YouTube videos and recommended by my colleague, but came out with more of course (I love a good old 3 for 2 I do). I wanted a foam cleanser as I find these are really good at taking away the days dirt and grime. I first came across foam cleansers when I used the Body Shop Tea Tree Cleanser and really liked it so wanted to try one from Simple which I thought would be more gentle on my skin. I also picked up a cleansing oil which I’ve never used before.
What I bought
I was watching Melissa from Mels Wardrobe YouTube video on skincare and have practically bought most of the stuff she uses with a few additions. These included the Biore Deep Pore Cleanser, Charcoal Pore Minimizer and the Blemish Clearing Scrub. I had never used these before buying them so bought these on a complete whim although my colleague has used their products advising me to try them.
Is one of the first skincare ranges I ever used and one that I will probably keep coming back to. I bought the foam cleanser which I hope will be good as part of my night time routine taking away the dirt/grime build up from the day. As most of their products are free from any harsh chemicals, this will leave my skin feeling nice and refreshed before bed. I also picked up Simple’s Hydrating Cleansing Oil to be used after all the other products.
Now if you hadn’t seen the hype over the Loreal masks – where have you been? There are 3 in the collection and this one is said to ‘clarify and detoxify’. I didn’t jump on this immediately because I wanted to see how it would play out and anyway, it was SOLD OUT everywhere, but I have finally got my hands on the Charcoal Detox Mask and I am glad I have this in my collection. There seems to be a theme with charcoal in this post which is known to draw out impurities removing any dirt so hopefully if I implement these into my skincare routine, my skin will become clearer, brighter and healthier.
Now I am not a fan of Nivea moisturiser as I find it appears quite thick but that hadn’t deterred me from trying some of their other skincare products – their wipes are amazing by the way. Way before this last splurge, I picked up some of the Nivea daily essentials products along with a night cream which is completely new for me as I never thought I’d use such a product. I love the 2 in 1 cleanser/toner as it’s effective in removing makeup and general build up. I’ve been using this before going in with the gel cleanser and scrubs on days where I want to exfoliate. I apply the night cream as a final step and this restores and locks in moisture making my skin feel lovely and silky.
This was meant to be a haul type post and when I start using these products thoroughly, I will try to get a routine down and let you guys know whats working for me. Do you use any of the products above? Have you got a really good skincare routine? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading xx
