Be your own competition

Often we as people look at others and compare ourselves. It doesn’t matter what it is – finances, aesthetics or status, but why do we do this? No matter how hard we try not to, it’s easily done.

Sometimes (quite often) I think to myself I’m nearly 30, I don’t own a house, I don’t have a husband or have any children and think, ‘I’m not where I want to be in life’. Or as a female, looking at another female and thinking ‘body goals’, or whatever it may be and comparing  myself again to society’s idea of perfect. Or these highly Instagramable models, you know the girls that are insta famous? Yeah that! But here’s the thing, I truly believe that this is how it was meant to be, God planned it this way. Nothing happens by accident and if you were meant to have something at this point, you would.

We may look at others and think ‘wow, so and so has got it all together’ they may have the amazing car, partner, children or home but we do not know how or what they’ve done to get there! Granted some people are handed things on a plate, that’s just how life is sometimes but also others work really hard.

Let’s take Blogging/bloggers for instance. I started this blog a year ago now and some of the people I have met through blogging have also started at a similar time. Some of their followings, (in fact, most lol) are way higher than mine. I can compare and get down about it, or I can up my game and put in the work because no doubt they have worked incredibly hard to build up and maintain that following!

My point is and this is with all aspects in life now, (not only blogging) we can’t look at someone who could be on level 5 of their journey when we’re on level 1 or 2 and compare ourselves to them. Whatever someone else may have, we don’t know how hard they had to work for it. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others! Instead compare yourself to who YOU were yesterday.

Be your OWN competition. Be better than you were yesterday. That’s the real goal. Work hard and set goals and you will get to where you want to be, you will achieve what you set out to achieve and more! Yes it may take time and this is so cliche BUT nothing worth having ever came easy. So don’t give up, keep pushing through hunny. Work towards being a better you and Be Your Own Competition.

Love this! 100% true. I find myself comparing to EVERYONE and EVERYTHING! It’s so silly as you say we’re all on our own journey at different levels, etc. Comparison just kills you. Focus on our own journeys, support each other and keep up the hard work! We’ll see results and learn lots in the process. Keep going!

Awwww Ida thank you! You and me both, it’s bad but we’re human although there is no point. You are the best version of you, there’s no need to compare with others! And supporting each other is really important as women instead of tearing each other down. Thanks for reading x
