Am I A Real Blogger?

I’m currently having some down time away from London and realised it’s been exactly one month since my last blog post and I have to say, the longest break I’ve taken since I started blogging. I have almost been blogging for a year now and my blog turns 1 at the end of the month which is surreal to me. 69 posts later, I’ve asked myself the question – Am I A Real Blogger?

When I started Shannon Kara, I didn’t know where it was going to take me as it was simply a hobby, something I created to break up the time I had after my 9 to 5 expressing whatever the hell I felt like. I wanted to show my makeup/skincare journey and add a bit of fashion, which has probably been the hardest out of my categories to blog about for a number of reasons.

Quite soon after setting up my blog on WordPress, I went self hosted to and bought my domain and a shiny template to match. I started off quite well, posting consistently while running my social media coherently, attending events and worked with a few brands. Then it took a back seat and I no longer had the motivation to blog.

I completely lacked motivation and ran out of ideas but the worst part was I didn’t feel bad about it, I said to myself from very early on that I do not want to force blogging. I want it to feel authentic and not like everything that everyone else is doing.

Does it make me less of a blogger to post sporadically? No, I don’t think so. I do believe taking breaks are necessary and would recommend them to anyone who feels they are stuck in a blogging rut. What I will say though through my blogging experience is that there are lots of phases you will go through as a blogger.

Blogging can be so exciting, a place to relieve stress or great as a creative outlet. I want to continue to put content out, being consistent across my social media and have fun along the way.

As I am coming up to my 1 year blog birthday, I think it’s a good time to refresh Shannon Kara and will aim to do a giveaway to say you thank you to all who have been rocking with me along the way!

Keep yours eyes peeled on my Twitter and Instagram for details of the giveaway!

Thanks for reading xx

A very honest account. I think we all write for different reasons and what may work for one blogger may not work for another. I love that you choose to blog with passion and not forcing blog posts out. I think the best written ones are the ones that come naturally. Keep writing x

Thank you. I sometimes feel as if I’m writing to and for myself and yes, I want to blog because I’m choosing to and not because I feel I have to. Thank you for reading xx

Its so true, I think sometimes consistency and inspiration just weans and it’s important to try to do as much as you can but it doesn’t mean that you’re any less of a “blogger”
