Sleek | Matte Me Lip Cream

Back at it again with another affordable liquid lipstick this time from Sleek. If you want to see my previous post click here.

If you haven’t seen the variety of liquid lipsticks on the market I believe you may be sleeping! What’s great is that drugstore brands are really taking the opportunity to introduce some great options for such reasonable prices, but this one from Sleek is great because you’ll still get change from a fiver!

The matte me collection has 12 colours available ranging from soft nudes to bright pinks and fiery reds to deep purples. With something for everyone, it’s easy to get spoilt for choice but the chosen were Shabby ChicVelvet Slipper and Old Hollywood.

I think the above 3 are great shades but my favourite from them is OH because I feel it’s a slight dupe for my current favourite lipstick – Sin by MAC. You could see how popular these are as there were very few left on the shelf and I even had to ask for Old Hollywood.  My second favourite is VS but I’m still unsure of this on my actual lip.

The formula of these is much better than the MUA liquid lipsticks and it applies very smoothly as it’s a cream consistency. It doesn’t leave your lips feeling super dry once applied which is one thing I hate about matte liquid lipsticks. I personally do not like the applicator which is down to preference but I must say it applies with precision if you have a steady hand. If like me you are still on your way to perfecting the steady hand, then I would say be careful as it can get messy going everywhere!

This leads me onto my last point that the staying power of these lipsticks is ridiculous in a good way of course, until it comes to the time to take it off – boy this was the hardest part! I used wipes which took a few gos to get it completely off but once applied this will not budge which is great for longevity of the product.

Overall I’m really pleased with these Sleek liquid lipsticks and definitely would repurchase. I just find it hard to remove and can become untidy if not careful when applying but for £4.99, one of the best drugstore liquid lipsticks I’ve come across so far! Have you tried any of these? What’s your favourite colour? Thank you for reading xx

I have never tried any of those but they sound really good, especially for only 5 quid! I have to agree with you, Old Hollywood looks the best. xx

Love this! So true it’s great that affordable liquid lipsticks are FINALLY coming on the market here in the UK. I think our US friends have it a lot better than us! I clicked on ‘Shabby Chic’ as I love that colour and I don’t have it – but of course it’s sold out! Boo! Will be checking for that shade out and about in London! And as a tip, Vaseline, coconut oil or any oil based product will help remove these a lot quicker!

Thank you! There’s nothing worse than the UK finally jumping on board but having not bought enough stock – especially as a poc. The bigger stores should hopefully have it or keep an eye out on their site. And thank you for reading and sharing your tip! X
