MUA LUXE | Liquid Lipsticks

Oooooohhhhhh I’m so late to the party with this one! Despite all the hype around the Kylie Jenner Lipkits and all the other various brands on the market doing liquid lipsticks such as ABH, NYX, MAC, Colourpop and Revlon to name a few, I just didn’t jump on the bandwagon.

But the time has arrived for me to get involved small, small lol! I stumbled across these by accident on my latest trip into Superdrug and if you aren’t familiar with the brand already, MUA is a very affordable drugstore brand.

Quite often there are 3 for 2 offers throughout the store across various brands, and after seeing this amazing post by the lovely Christine over at Yveschild I was on the hunt for the Sleek palettes but to my dismay, they didn’t have the one I wanted!

Nonetheless, I shimmied myself throughout the store and came across these beauties by MUA and at £3 on a 3 for 2 offer, I thought it’d be rude not to! I bought these in the shades Reckless and Kooky.

Below are swatches on first application and when dried matte. When I first applied these to my lips they felt very moisturised but I must say that feeling changed rapidly when it began to dry matte, shortly after I felt as if my lips were super dry. I’m not sure if this is normal but the lipsticks felt particularly drying. I would also recommend exfoliating to avoid flaky looking lips as it shows much more with such a matte lip products – which I don’t do at present so if anyone could recommend something for me that would be great!

Although these MUA lipsticks felt quite dry soon after application, that feeling soon passed and they began to feel like ordinary matte lipsticks. One thing I must add is that these are very long lasting, the staying power is ridiculous! When trying to remove these please make sure you have some very good wipes!

What’s your thoughts on liquid lipsticks, which have you tried if any? I’d love to hear what you think in the comments! Thank you for reading!

Omy I have never seen these in any Superdrug *rolls eyes* Loving Kooky on you! + it matches your nails! Lool don’t know why I noticed that. You could always try some brown sugar and honey as an exfoliator .. That’s the most annoying thing about these liquid lipsticks! So drying 🙁 and hahaha I’m sure those palettes will end up in your possession 😉 Great post and thank you for the mention Shan! Xxx

I know, I stumbled across them at random, they’re so affordable but I think you need to go to a larger Superdrug store to find them. I will try that combo actually and let you know how I get on! When I get hold of them palettes you will know lol… they’re gorgeous! And you are very welcome my dear! x

I tried these about 2 years ago and wasn’t a fan. Recently I’ve heard good things, so I wonder if the formula has changed? That dryness feeling you mentioned, stayed put and didn’t go away. As soon as lips were rubbed together or I drank, they started flaking and patchy.

Awwww really? That’s a shame, they’re such a good price! The dry feeling really isn’t nice but it soon passed for me. Maybe try them again if you have the chance xx

Hahaha! Thank you! They are surprisingly quite good, loving them for the price! Thanks for the compliment! I like both but really feeling the kooky, it’s nice and bold, I agree with u on reckless, it’s quite subtle on. I just wish it didn’t have the initial drying feeling! Xx
