8 Ways to destress 

Hey guys, Happy Sunday! I hope you have all had a great week so far! One more sleep until it’s Monday *sigh* except if you’re attending The Bloggers Hangout event like me, it won’t be all bad! #BLFW

Today’s post is short and sweet but has helped me out a lot! Let’s face it, no matter how hard we try to stay positive, sometimes we all have days that are just shit! Whatever the circumstance may be, these steps help to lift my mood putting me in a better headspace. Enjoy xx

1. Have a bath/shower

This is almost the first thing I do when feeling a little uptight. There’s nothing better for me than having a hot bath or shower to relax my body and release any tension in my muscles. It’s both refreshing and relaxing – big smiles!

2. Light a candle

Candles have a way of completely transforming an atmosphere. The subtle lighting and fragrance from a candle creates a state of relaxation. There is something about great scented candles that helps to put my mind at ease.

3. Listen to music

Music is a mood changer! I could listen to music every single hour of the day. It takes me back to specific moments in time reminding me of both good and bad memories, but that’s just it, it tells a story! Music plays an imperative role in lifting my mood.

4. Have a drink of choice

Now the fun part. Having a drink to relax could be anything from a glass of rosé wine to a hot chocolate with marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles! The latter seems more appealing right now but I’d usually opt for a glass of wine to unwind on most days.

5. Read a book

Reading to me is a form of escapism and helps me to relax. I can get lost in a story, totally in the mind of someone else for a few hours. A good book in the bath, with a candle burning and a drink of choice is a perfect combination for relaxation imo!

6. Talk to friends/family

Who better to turn to when you’re feeling a little down. Your friends and family will always be there for you so if it’s a rant you need, pick up the phone and get it off your chest. Equally praying to God about your worries will do you the world of good

7. Paint your nails

Painting your nails can be quite therapeutic if you enjoy this sort of thing. There are some great products on the market to enjoy self manicures at home which are inexpensive. So pick up your favourite polish and get those sassy nails!

8. Take a walk

Lastly on my list is taking a walk. There’s nothing worse than being cooped up in a space when you feel low. Get outside and have some fresh air even if it’s to the shop and back, it’ll clear your mind and may even give you some inspiration!

    These are great ideas! Lighting a candle and listening to music definitely helps and so does reading, although I can’t do that when I’m feeling too stressed. Other things that help me are writing down my thoughts and feelings, colouring in and writing a bucket list. 🙂 xx

    Lovely tips – couldn’t agree more 🙂 So many great ways to let go of the worry.
    I think walking helps me the most (if the weather is nice) and nail painting sure also sounds great. A quiet bath with nothing but my own thoughts or a book is so nice too.

    It’s strange but I find doing work helps me out when I’m stressing because I know that if I do that work now, then I won’t have to worry about it later! It probably isn’t the healthiest option and I am trying to take it easy but I’m such a workaholic that it’s hard to cut that out completely.

    Baths also work, but sometimes I get stressed thinking about the time I waste in the bath could be time spent doing work. Okay wow I really need to sort that out haha!

      I get where you are coming from but I prefer working in work hours lol! Yes give yourself a break! I love baths I think they really do help and again, give yourself a break to relax sometimes
