Daily Makeup Routine

Yesterday I took part in the #LNChitChat (late night chit chat) Twitter chat where the topic was all things makeup/beauty. We talked about how long we have been wearing makeup etc and it lead me to post an everyday/natural makeup routine.

When I refer to ‘everyday’ I mean I would put this on as a bare minimum if I wore makeup on a daily basis to work, which I do not at the moment as I’m still trying to incorporate this into my morning routine. Anyway, I digress so here goes my basic ‘everyday’ makeup routine.

This makeup routine is quite simple, nothing too special. I carry this small Ted Baker makeup bag with me in my handbag either to touch up my makeup applied earlier that day or if I end up going out somewhere after work I’m prepared to put on a face lol.

Base

For the base I apply Gosh BB Cream in the shade 5/espresso which is a good colour match for my skin tone. It’s quite a dewy finish and although I would normally wear a matte finish foundation, I really like how this looks on my skin.

The good thing about this product is its a combination of foundation, primer and a moisturiser therefore I do not generally apply either separately.

Moving onto the La Girl pro concealer, this is one of my favourites which I would use for highlighting areas but on a daily basis, this would mainly be used for the under eye area and I would just dab this on and blend with my fingers. I will also use this for brows but will come onto that in a short while. The shade I have here is Toffee and I use this concealer in a range of shades for different reasons.

Eyes

For my eyes I keep this very minimal. On a day to day basis purely for time purposes, I find a pencil is the quickest way to fill in my brows. I use a standard pencil from MUA which is only £1 but I really like it. The only downside to pencil is the constant sharpening and I really need to get my hands on the spiked pencil from Mac which gives natural hair like strokes.

I use the La Girl concealer to highlight the brow bone and I can vary between shades here depending on how I feel. On a daily basis when trying to look as natural as possible, I tend to use this in a darker shade, however on occasions when I go out, I would use this in a lighter shade to give my brows greater definition.

I then apply a coat of mascara from Collection  which really takes my lashes up a notch. This is a really good mascara for me and I like the results it leaves me with.

Eye and Cheek palette

Now this palette is life because it has everything in it to make your life easier carrying just 1 palette instead of 2/3 which is great for traveling. I initially bought this palette Dancing til Dusk in a haul which you can see here only to get hold of the Sahara blush which is the gorgeous peachy colour.

I wouldn’t use this for my eyes on a daily basis however if I wanted to add a small contour and maybe, just maybe a highlight, this palette enables me to do so. I only use the Sahara blush to give my cheeks a warm feel.

Lips

To finish I carry a nude and a red lip with me, nude to complete the natural look and a red just because lol. I think a bold red lip really transforms your look and so if I do end up going out after work, I’m ready for a more glam look. Both of these lipsticks are from Rimmel and as you can see I’ve made great use of the 111/red  and the 48/nude is a new addition to my collection.

And so there it is! My natural ‘everyday’ go to makeup. Have you used any of these products? Is this routine too minimal for you? What do you wear on a daily basis? I’d love to hear from you below!

Also, I will be hosting next weeks #LNChitChat and would love if you could join in on my first ever chat! 10-11pm on Wednesday night! Hope to see you there! Thanks for reading xx

Love this post you have inspired me to do one. But can I get an AMEN about the MUA pencil I thought it was just me!!! I have to sharpen it everytime I use it..not good! I love that rimmel brown shade very neutral! I bought the sleek blush by 3 pallette and love it that cheek and lip one looks equally as good x

I love these posts. More so than the “going out look”, as I don’t really get out that much these days haha! They’re a lot more relatable. I love MUA products. In fact just over a year ago I discovered the brand and since then have been using their matte powder and bronzer every day since!! Keep meaning to do a post to show you don’t have to spend a fortune on makeup to get good quality!! I’ve not used any of the products you’ve mentioned but love the look of the RIMMEL no. 48 and no it’s not too minimal at all! I only use a handful of products for everyday.

I know, it’s so interesting to see how people achieve their ‘everyday looks’ and what products they use! Some peoples everyday is more like a night out to me but hey, each to their own! You should do one, it would be a great read! I love my MUA pencil it’s so affordable and of a decent quality but I haven’t had much luck with their lipsticks – they are cheap and break easily in my experience! Rimmel lipsticks on the other hand are very good! The nude range is quite varied, you should have a look. Thanks for reading girl! xx
