Beauty is in the eye of the beholder… Pt.1

Well if that’s the case, why are we as women so destined to wear make up? If we as women are constantly told “you’re beautiful, you don’t need make up” and being made in the image of God, why does it seem in today’s society so addictive? Everywhere I turn it’s in my face, especially through social media where I feel it’s definitely pushed heavily and rightly so as its one of the easiest ways to market a product. Every other page is a make up page, every other girl is a make up artist (which is great for people like me who have no clue about make up) but the funniest thing is, to so many people (not even just women as some men are looking better than women in make up nowadays) make up is like second nature. It’s like me with hand cream, I use it without even thinking! I feel lost without hand cream and the thought of dry hands is a no no! On many occasions I have heard people say “I can’t leave the house without my face” as if they can just pick up a mask and bring it along.

I understand people feel good with make up on, and damn skippy it sure does make a difference on some people (myself included) but so much so that we have become dependant on it? Whatever happened to natural beauty? Feeling comfortable within our own skin? Who or why is it that we seek this approval/validation from if all that matters is the one that loves you for you? Why do we care about others? Maybe I can answer my own question…
